Bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins, common dolphins, Bryde`s whales, striped dolphins
In March 2022 we encountered six different species of whales and dolphins on our responsible whale watching tours off La Gomera.
The following species were observed on our tours in March:
- bottlenose dolphin
- pilot whale
- Atlantic spotted dolphin
- common dolphin
- Bryde`s whale
- striped dolphin
Our guests were able to enjoy encounters with various marine mammals this month. The area between La Gomera and Tenerife is one of the best in the world to see whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. In March we encountered, among others, the small spotted dolphins, but also the Bryde’s whales with a body length of over 10 metres.
In contrast to the spotted dolphins, the striped dolphins are rather shy and rarely approach the boat. On some tours, our guests were able to observe the dolphins hunting for small fish, sometimes several species together.
