Bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins, rough-toothed dolphins, Bryde`s whales/baleen whales
In June 2022 we encountered at least five different species of whales and dolphins on our responsible whale watching tours off La Gomera.
The following species were observed on our tours in June:
- bottlenose dolphin
- pilot whale
- Atlantic spotted dolphin
- rough-toothed dolphin
- Bryde`s whale / baleen whale
To the delight of our guests and crew, we were finally able to observe rough-toothed dolphins off the coast of La Gomera again in June. We also continue to see many baleen whales, mostly Bryde’s whales.
Our resident pilot whales, the bottlenose dolphins and the nimble spotted dolphins also delighted us again with great encounters.
A barolo shearwater, which we had found in the sea, debilitated and unable to fly, was checked out by a veterinarian and could be returned back to its natural habitat. A video of the release can be seen here on our Facebook profile. The species is classified as endangered.
