Bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins, common dolphins
In December 2021 we encountered four different species of whales and dolphins on our responsible whale watching tours off La Gomera.
The following species were observed on our tours in December:
- bottlenose dolphin
- pilot whale
- Atlantic spotted dolphin
- common dolphin
On most tours in December we met the resident pilot whales. Our guests had great encounters with these fascinating sea mammals. For example, we were able to watch pilot whale mothers with their calves, listen to their communication and some of them even came very close to our boat. It is also always very interesting to see when several groups (pods) meet and interact with each other.
Three dolphin species were also seen on our tours starting in the harbour of Vueltas, Valle Gran Rey. They usually travel faster than the relaxed pilot whales and sometimes they are bowriding right below the feet of our guests.
