Pilot whales, Bottlenose dolphins, Common dolphin
We have recently seen the following whale and dolphin species on our whale watching tours off La Gomera:
- Pilot whales (Indian pilot whales)
- Bottlenose dolphins
- Common dolphin
The last few weeks have been perfect weather for the sepia shearwaters. Wind, wind and more wind. We could watch them sail for hours.
Fortunately, pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins have also provided us with some wonderful moments. Many curious youngsters wanted to have a look at us. The adult pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins also kept a safe distance from us. (And of course we did too!)
On one day, the pilot whales had apparently planned jump training or they simply enjoyed plunging into the waves. In any case, we enjoyed seeing pilot whales jumping and they also showed their sharp teeth! This is such a rare sight! We are just fascinated by them and it shows that there can always be surprises at sea!
Common dolphins also accompanied us for a moment.
The sighting rate for the whole period was 90%.
