Bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins, striped dolphins, common dolphins, Blainville`s beaked whales
In December 2022 we encountered six different species of whales and dolphins on our responsible whale watching tours off La Gomera.
The following species were observed on our tours in December:
- bottlenose dolphin
- pilot whale
- Atlantic spotted dolphin
- striped dolphin
- common dolphin
- Blainville`s beaked whale
On most tours in December we encountered the pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins again. Sometimes the smaller spotted dolphins and the rather shy striped dolphins also showed up. We also had a great encounter with five Blainville’s beaked whales, three adults and two juveniles.
On an ecotour with marine biologist Volker, the guests were able to observe a large group of flying striped dolphins and common dolphins also appeared on this tour.
In December, the Atlantic Ocean also showed its rough side, so that we had to cancel a few tours due to the weather conditions.
