Pilot whales, Bottlenose dolphins, Spotted dolphins, Baleen whale
We have recently seen the following whale and dolphin species on our whale watching tours off La Gomera:
- Pilot whales (Indian pilot whales)
- Bottlenose dolphins
- Atlantic spotted dolphin
- Baleen whale (unidentified)
Unfortunately, unstable weather made our trips difficult and sometimes impossible. But when we were out, we were able to enjoy our time with pilot whales, bottlenose dolphins and spotted dolphins.
One tour was very special: a large fountain suddenly rose up between the waves! We realised straight away that it was a big whale! We jumped for joy! And then there were 3 of them at once, apparently 2 adults and a juvenile! We were able to follow the group for a while, the young one seemed curious and kept its course just a few metres from our boat! What a moment! And we were waiting so eagerly for it!
The sighting rate for the entire period was 91%.
