Sightings in April 2022

Bottlenose dolphins, pilot whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins, common dolphins, Bryde`s whales, fin whales, Cuvier`s beaked whales

In April 2022 we encountered seven different species of whales and dolphins on our responsible whale watching tours off La Gomera.

The following species were observed on our tours in April:

  • bottlenose dolphin
  • pilot whale
  • Atlantic spotted dolphin
  • common dolphin
  • Bryde`s whale
  • fin whale
  • Cuvier`s beaked whale

April had many great sightings in store for our guests and crew: among others, we were able to observe the the second largest whale species, the fin whale. We sawe both the large whales and the dolphins hunting and feeding, and the resident pilot whales spoiled us with beautiful, relaxed encounters again.

The rather rare Cuvier’s beaked whales also made an appearance. They spend little time on the water’s surface and dive very deep, so sightings are usually brief but special.

Guests and crew especially have fun with the lively, small spotted dolphins. They are sometimes sighted in large groups and accompany the boat in the bow wave.
