Sightings from 16.11.25 to 30.11.25

Rough-toothed dolphins, Pilot whales, Bottlenose dolphins, Baleen whale, Beaked whale, Loggerhead turtle

We have recently seen the following whale and dolphin species on our whale watching tours off La Gomera:

  • Rough-toothed dolphins
  • Pilot whales (Short-finned pilot whales)
  • Bottlenose dolphins
  • Beaked whale (unidentified)
  • Baleen whale (unidentified)

It has been a year since we first saw the little pilot whale – a special little fighter who was still entangled in a plastic cord that was deforming his dorsal fin. Some primary school children here nicknamed him ‘Harry Potter’, a name full of affection and hope.
It was all the more wonderful to see him again. Close to his mother’s side, he seemed playful and curious. He approached our boat several times, always within the protective circle of his family. Seeing how lively and healthy he is filled us with great joy.

We also encountered bottlenose dolphins, which, as so often, were staying close to the pilot whales.
Some rough-toothed dolphins showed us their perfect synchronisation, and even four beaked whales made a brief appearance in the distance – a rare moment.

Finally, a baleen whale announced its presence with powerful blow clouds. Although its identity remained unclear, its appearance rounded off a special, unforgettable day at sea.

The sighting rate for the whole period was 89%.
