Spotted dolphins, Pilot whales, Bottlenose dolphins, Beaked whale
We have recently seen the following whale and dolphin species on our whale watching tours off La Gomera:
- Spotted dolphin
- Pilot whales (Short-finned pilot whales)
- Bottlenose dolphins
- Beaked whale (unidentified)
Winter has arrived – you can really tell, because the weather has been wild over the last few days. Despite the few trips we have been able to make so far, we have been lucky: we encountered pilot whales, often together with bottlenose dolphins.
We hadn’t seen spotted dolphins for a long time, so it was all the more wonderful that they visited us on the boat again. It was great to experience and feel their energy again.
Even though it was only a brief moment, we were able to spot two beaked whales surfacing. As is often the case, however, they quickly disappeared back into the depths of the ocean.
The sighting rate for this period is 60%.
