Sperm whale, Rough-toothed dolphin, Bottlenose dolphins, Spotted dolphin, Beaked whale
We have recently seen the following whale and dolphin species on our whale watching tours off La Gomera:
- Bottlenose dolphins
- Atlantic spotted dolphin
- Sperm whale
- Beaked whale (unidentified)
- Rough-toothed dolphin
The spotted dolphins were very present. They repeatedly accompanied the boat, often in the company of shearwaters, with whom they hunted together. Despite their activity, they regularly took time for us and displayed curious, sociable behaviour.
Several sightings of rough-toothed dolphins sweetened our days. They too were very active, curious and close to the boat. Some were even near the coast. Thanks to an underwater photograph taken by one of our guests, we discovered that the rough-toothed dolphins were playing with pieces of plastic, which they carried on their fins.
Once again, we were visited by the impressive sperm whales! We were able to observe a small school of four animals until their next dive!
We encountered bottlenose dolphins, whose playful behaviour and elegant jumps repeatedly provided magical moments.
We were also able to admire a loggerhead turtle up close, as it swam quite close to the boat.
The sighting rate for this period was 70%.
